The Essence Of Who I Am

Today, as I was struggling to put the stoller into the back of my car
An older lady walking by
Smiling at me, she said
These are the best years of your life
And it made me smile
So many times I hear the opposite
The newborn stage is the worst
The toddler stage is the worst
Wait until it’s the terrible 2s 3s 4s
You didn’t sleep until you were two
The middle school stage is the worst
Just wait until high school
Yes, maybe there will be hard days
Days where you dont sleep
Days where you cry
Days you struggle
But I believe that these are the best days of my life
Because I had a hard childhood
I was sad and lonely most of the time
But watching my son grow up and watch the animals at the zoo in the stroller that barely fit in my car
I got to experience my childhood all over again
And it was the best day of my life
